Of course I complied and as you can see Nahla was okay with this, a little confused at first though but they soon settled down together and the babies were all happy. A few hours later Kimba got back into her bed and sat there looking at me - well I know her well and knew it was time to move the babies back to her own pen, anything to keep them all happy, the babies were all fine and all had gained weight as usual

On form this morning she is, already been across the curtain pole several times, Chesta tries to get her through the glass, Helga is darting around the house chatting away with Luna on her tail, Simba is still snoozing in bed and the Moms are relaxing with their babies happily watching the 2 lunatics running in and out the room.
Oliva is quite unsettled today, he stays with his nephew Chesta, who is getting a little frustrated and has been chasing Oliva around the room, no harm has been done as Chesta is far too nice to hurt Oliva, but he has had enough, now here's my problem, Princess Luna turns into the crazy cat from the depths of hell when Oliva enters the main house, she's fine when he's behind the glass and poor Oliva who is such a gentle soul just wants a quiet life so he is now happily relaxing on my bed, I actually manged to sneak him up there past Luna. I just checked on him and he was so happy bless him. Chesta is all alone like poor Donkey from Shrek, he's okay though I can see him fast asleep on the scratch post, I'll put Oliva back in with him tonight as I don't like leaving the boys on their own for too long. Newborn page has been updated with pictures from yesterday and weight progress chart has been added to. Eeva's si-rex baby is the last to open her eyes, she is featured at the top of the newborn page. With nothing else to report, I have washing to see to, with 3 litters and beds to change every day there is always a huge washing pile here.
Hekta was so well behaved during the journey, chatting to us all in the car. I set Hekta into his pen next to Jago, Hekta wasn't at all bothered by Jago next door. Off we went for a couple of hours whilst the judging took place, on checking the results board Hekta was unplaced in the Bucks Oxon show with a Cornish Rex taking the grand and another Cornish having 2nd place but the Reserve Grand was witheld. The East Sussex show Hekta had a N/J next to his name, after having a mini heart attack and thinking the worst like he was ill or had sprayed with Mr Hanson with 'odour de Hekta'!!! I enquired about this with the show manager who very kindly went to find Mr Hansonn to establish his reason for not judging, he had looked at the wrong pen where the cat next to Hekta had been withdrawn, he apologised and said he would repeat the judging - the result was tippex over the N/J on the slip and Hekta was unplaced in that show too - at this point the 'odour de Hekta' thought was becoming more appealing - with the same 2 Cornish taking the Grand and the other being placed 2nd but the reserve Grand was withheld, now this was the same 2 Cornish but the judges chose opposite ones for the grand and W/H on the reserve - make of that what you will but how one judge can award a Grand and another deem the same cat unworthy by withholding the reserve in the other show - makes no sense to me at all and shows how inconsistent the judging is.
I had advice about Hekta and as he is young he still has plenty of changing to do and his head should widen which should balance out his longer nose, which I do like but a lot of judges are preferring the more European type Devons, me I'm all for bringing back Kirlee with his straight profile, my Chesta is in that case a perfect original Devon Rex. Now enough of the whining, I had a lovely day with Emma and Jay from Rexiru, whose crazy Daisy did exceptionally well again, gaining 2 Grand Premier CC's and BOB, she is one exceptional Devon Rex that is flying to the top and that loves the attention and struts her stuff in the pen, when we got home though she stole Mr T's new toy bird and slapped him for trying to take it back poor boy. I met Gem Crazy cat lady and Jago who also had a fab day winning 2 CC's and BOB's and even that had to be sorted because of judging again I must thank her for agreeing to do all the reporting for the foreign results and let me off the hook I was far too rattled to concentrate. After 2 weeks at home with babies it was so nice to get out the house but I did miss the babies and Sam had done a wonderful job with her friend Jade Quite excited about getting out the house for some fresh air tomorrow, it's been an eventful 2 weeks. My Daughter is on kitten sitting duty tomorrow for me. The feline I have entered in the show who will remain nameless as you are not allowed to advertise who you are taking to a show in case the judges see it. So the feline has been showered, claws clipped and cleaned, ears dewaxed, nose picked lol and told how special they are and to be on best behaviour tomorrow at the show and during the journey with Emma and Jay and their feline entrant. I am looking forward to coffee and chicken sandwiches, cake of course and catching up on all things Devon Rexy. Bag is almost ready with the vaccination card the last thing I always find. I am reporting on the foreign results for the show so they get put on the GCCF website as quick as possible.
Nahla is happily settled in her Mamas & Papas moses basket, she and her babies look well cute too, I have to say her babies are huge. I was looking for her Daughter Helga Huflepuff this afternoon and found her with the help of Luna Lovegood. She said she was only keeping the other end warm for the babies bless her.
Eeva is very happy with her basket too, I was a bit worried as this one didn't come with a hood but she doesn't seem bothered at all. As Kimba has a fully enclosed heated bed she doesn't need a Moses basket yet and her not so little girl had a few things to say about it. All the babies continue to gain weight at every weigh-in which I am so pleased about, the Moms are all happy and healthy and each have a run round the house when they want which keeps Luna & Helga happy too. My Entry has been confirmed for the Supreme cat show on November 23rd at the NEC, come along on the day, we had a fab day last year, lots of stalls at the show and so many gorgeous cats to see. It's great to say hi to people and have lots of cat chats.
Last night Eeva finally gave birth to 5 beautiful kittens, they were weighed this morning and all have gained weight and are so cute. Nahla's babies are doing very well indeed. Kimba's litter are all gaining weight but not at the rate I would like so I will be offering top up feeds to them several times a day to help Kimba out.
Helga is so missing her Mom Nahla and I'm sure she looks forward to when she can play with her little Sisters and Brothers. There is a reason for mating the girls at the same time, I had plans to move house within the next 12 months so didn't want to have babies during any upheaval and so at the time I thought it was an excellent idea, maybe I was a bit too enthusiastic for my own good. We did weigh the the babies last night and topped 4 of the 8 up with some cimikat milk, Moms are doing very well and are so content. We await the arrival of the next litter which are due anytime from tomorrow, but this Mom was almost a week late last time.
Helga Hufflepuff is very needy at the moment as she can't have cuddles with her Mom Nahla and Luna my little Princess, I say through gritted teeth is being as naughty as she can to divert attention to herself usually by biting my feet. Dads are being fairly quiet today, it's all been very tiring for them!!! Babies have all been checked, weighed, kissed and cuddled - Moms too of course. Time for bed |
