Forever in our Hearts
It's always heartbreaking to lose members of our family whether they are just born or are with us for many years. Breeding Devon Rex sometimes brings heartbreak too and no matter how old the babies are, to lose them is tragic and very upsetting, and they are never forgotten. The last 6 months have been particularly hard at the Whimzeerex household we have said our goodbyes to 4 babies.
Ryebirex Tigga
|
Grandma TiggaShe loved to get the warmest spot and didn't care who she trod on to get there. Special thanks to Mr and Mrs Pete Armstrong for allowing me to breed with Tigga. She was my first queen, and made a super Mom, she had 4 litters in total

Kimba
I miss her every day, she was a huge part of me and things are just not the same without her.
Kimba is my homebred girl. Kimba was so pretty and very intelligent. She could be quite demanding especially at 3am when she wanted fresh water from the bathroom tap or she just wants me to get up, if I resisted she then proceeded to knock as many things off my bedroom units as she can - still not working she would start ripping up anything made of paper until I gave in and got up. We would then have cuddles. Kimba also played fetch with toys, if she wanted a treat out of the jar she would bring me a cuddly toy from upstairs, we could hear her coming making me smile every time. She loved to be higher than everyone else too. She was a super Mom and has given me some lovely babies. Everyone noticed Kimba's eyes, they are one of her best features along with her coat of course. Kimba gained Championship status in 2012 in just 4 GCCF shows, she behaved very well during the journey to the shows and throughout the show day but the last show it was mentioned that she was very handy with her paws so that was enough to tell me she has had enough of showing and prefers to be at home, I am very proud of her.

SIMBA
Seal Tabby Point - spayed
Sire GR CH Chichi Beethoven - Dam Ryebirex Tigga
GCCF active registered - neutered
Simba is a beautiful girl and is fully aware of how important she is. The love she gives to me is limitless. Simba is a very cheeky Devon Rex, she can be very destructive too especially when working with Kimba, there is never a dull moment in our house. Simba never goes to sleep at bedtime without first giving me a goodnight cuddle. She hasn't had a litter of her own which is a shame because she loves the kittens like they are her own. Simba has been spayed now and thankfully she is just the same loving Aunty Simba to the little ones. Simba was diagnosed with Lymphoma in February 2016, it wasn't the news we wanted to hear but we'll give her all the love she needs.
UPDATE JULY 2017 - 17 months after her diagnosis Simba is still with us, she has lost weight but is quite happy and still loves a bit fish off our plate and treats at bedtime, she never misses that, she is bright eyed and when confronted with Princess Luna she stood her ground and Luna backed off, GO SIMBA, still full of attitude and love.
Simba passed away peacefully, she was a funny girl who I loved very much, her Mom Tigga will miss her as they were together most of the time.

PinkyBirthday 21/06/09
Fully registered with GCCF and TICA. So far it's going well, Pinky is getting loads of love and Severus is running round with toys even in the middle of the night!!!
|
Pinky is a proper bundle of hugs, she can be quite hyper at times, as if she has so much to do she may burst with excitement.
She is a big girl who loves her food. Her coat is so soft, she loves to leap on you and hold on with her claws, she just wants a big love. She really needs more attention and love than I can give her here. Pinky has been spayed, micro-chipped and her vaccinations are fully up to date. She has no health issues. |
NEWT
Peppadora Lumos Maxima
(Lumos Maxima is the incantation to a charm that can be used to produce a blinding flash of bright white light from the tip of the wand. This light can be thrown far off of the wand, illuminating the surrounding area for several minutes after its initial casting before darkening once more)
odd-eyed white
GCCF active registered - COE passed - Baer test passed - both parents tested CMS 'normal
Birthday 22nd July 2016
Newt will remain in our hearts forever, he was the most adorable little boy who reminded me of my first Devon boy Jaspa, as if he came back to see me for short visit. Newt was loving, playful, charming of course and we all loved him so much.
I will miss him so much, my little Newt. |
EEVA
GCCF Champion Smoothasilk Polly Flinders
Chocolate silver Torbie point
TICA & GCCF active registered
25th November 2011 - February 2017
Eeva was a very pretty girl, she came to us as a very timid shy girl and although she still freaked if you approached her too quickly, she got on well with all the Devons except for Kimba in the first months of her being, they just tolerated each other since they had kittens at the same time, it bought the pair closer together and Eeva adored Kimba and treated her like a big sister following her around and nudging her which Kimba doesn't mind at all but still likes to give her a mischievous slap occasionally. Eeva was not going to put into any shows but in April 2014 I entered her into her first show as I just felt it was time for her next step to gaining more confidence - check out the show page to find out how she did, as far as coping with it she did so with ease, I watched stewards and judges handle her and she did brilliantly, so at ease in her pen, not trying to hide at all - so proud of her. 2 weeks later I entered her in another double show where she was was awarded a further 2 challenge certificates making her up to Champion. Eeva had plenty of attitude and knew what she wanted, she was a slender lady but loved her food. Eeva was a super Mom and any worries I had quickly disappeared. She was quite close to me and head butts me for attention.
Whimzeerex Heartstring
Sire Spiritwalker Jumala - Dam GR CH Dixylan Luna Lovegood
(Dragon Heartstring is used in wand making )
Seal Si-Rex
GCCF active registered - neutered
In 2014 Elsa injured her spine at the age of 6 months by slipping off the TV and hitting the wooden pen and a speaker. After many sessions with a chiropractor she made great progress but was never 100%, she followed me everywhere, adored her treats of wet food, her appetite was the one constant that never changed until she had an eye infection that returned for a second time in both eyes, the decision was made as her quality of life was poor and she could no longer fight the infection

Mia
Whimzeerex Little Miss (named after a character in Bicentenial Man)
Tortie with dark points - Neuter.....
23rd December 2006 - 13th February 2015
Mia was a proper lazy little girl, so pretty and full of attitude, she let the others know when she wasn't in the mood to play or share her spot on the heater. Mia loved to get under a blanket and she allowed me to sleep in her bed every night under her duvet !! Whenever we had a litter of kittens Mia was quite put out that she had to share attention but she sometimes chose one kitten we don't know why and that kitten would play with her whether they wanted to or not. She was too fond of kitten food and her waistline increased whenever we had a litter. She loved to chat to me and only I understood her. Mia was a wonderful girl who was always ready to give me cuddles.

Red tabby point boy - Neutered
24th May 2014 - 13th February 2015
Pet name Walta, he stayed here with us, we loved him too much to let him go. We didn't know how long this special boy would live for - he was born with a poorly heart and so every day was a gift. He was such a loving boy, Severus was his best buddy and they slept together on my bed every night, Walta would enjoy having playtime with Severus and Elsa till he got tired and would take himself off to bed, one of us would always be checking on him, we miss him a lot he was such a sweet and special boy.
Oliva
Advish Jingles (born on Christmas Eve named after a Whimsical Pocket Dragon)
Red Tabby Point
Devon Rex - neutered at 5½ months
24th December 2005 - 13th October 2014
It is with the deepest sadness that I had to say goodbye to my sweet and loving boy, he will be greatly missed. The sweetest boy ever, he loved a cuddle. He was a very sensitive boy and let the girls get their own way most of the time. Drinking water from your glass was one of his favourite things to do and if he can't quite get the water, he just tipped it over and walked away. He also loved to scratch the carpet on the stairs! But my favourite thing he did was when he wanted a cuddle, he put his front paws on my shoulder and then I would have to hold his back paws and cuddle. Oliva was always first to welcome any newcomers, he was such a loving boy. He just loved to play with string and it's a game he could play on his own or he would pull the string along and everyone else chased behind.

In the picture on left he with his Sister Kimba's first litter, Whimzeerex Moaning Myrtle and Whimzeererex HouseElf Dobby. He loved the babies and was such a gentle boy with them. They became very fond of their big Uncle Oliva and I found them trying to feed from him once, poor boy was too worried to move, I rescued him and he was fine, a little confused but fine.
Oliva will remain in my heart always. |
Oska
Red Tabby Moggie
neutered
? - 2012
Oska was bought to us in February 2009 by a friend of my eldest Son, he had found him homeless and asked if we could give him a home, I took him to the vets to have him checked out, his blood came back fine but unfortunately his teeth weren't so lucky, he was in a lot of pain with them, so the vet took care of that, I paid the bill!!!!!!and we had a very happy cat. He loved to sit with us and cuddle, he had a few strange habits that we didn't talk about lol, we just left him to do his thing. Whatever he wanted he caused mayhem by upsetting the Devons, but from time to time we saw them sleeping next to him. Oska was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in Sept 2011 and had to take tablets everyday, he was doing okay but gradually he got slower and less interested in his normal routine until the time came we could no longer watch him suffer and struggle with life, he is at rest now under the Oak tree, we will all miss him including the neighbours who were very fond of him and he of them.
Smokey
Blue point tonkinese Devon Rex
1991 - 2008
1991 - 2008 Smokey was a wonderful girl who is greatly missed. She didn't take to newcomers easily but eventually you would find her curled up with them on a cold day. Smokey had an appetite for chicken and sardines that never diminished, she loved relaxing in my youngest Son's room and he loved her very much. She loved sitting on your lap having a cuddle. We have many many fond memories of her, she was loved and is missed by all of us.
Jaspa
Cubbyu Jaspa - odd eyed white neuter
1990 - 2002
Jaspa was my first Devon Rex from Mr Bagshaw (Cubbyu). He doesn't look very white here, but he loved to roll in the dirt. He loved his food, think you can see how slim he was. My children and Smokey all grew up with Jaspa and he was so loving toward them, always ready to play with their toys by knocking the cars off the track, being dressed up by Sam and always there for me when I needed a cuddle so it was a huge loss to all of us when he died, I still miss him and think of him often, it's because of Jaspa I love Devon Rex so much.
