Information about the health and well being of my Devons will added and also information you may find useful for your own felines.
Blood GroupsAll stud boys should be blood typed due to the problems that can occur when the kittens suckle from their Mom during the first 24 hours of their life when you put a B Blood type girl to an A Blood type boy. I do have some experience of mating B girls to an A boy and it's not something that should be done by an inexperienced breeder and as I have learned should only be done when required to do so in a breeding programme to continue a particular line.

Hearing Test for White catsThis is called a Baer test and should be done to all white kittens prior to them going to their new homes, this not only gives the new family peace of mind but also the breeder can know with 100% certainty that their kittens are fully hearing, partially hearing or deaf. Simply saying to new owners that the kitten can hear is no guarantee as they may only be able to hear out of one ear. I do hope the GCCF will make this a rule in the future for all kittens and not just those that are being sold as breeding queens or stud boys. Check out the Baer test page for more details on the test and a link to the official site of who carries out my Baer tests
