Kimba, Nowa and their babies along with Nahla's babies, Mia, Simba, Tigga and Oliva all went to the vets for their vaccinations today, all 8 babies passed their health check and were so brave having their vaccinations. Poor Mia will have to be booked in for a dental and I have to have a go at teeth cleaning with the others, so I will need a toothbrush for each, well we don't share toothbrushes - yuk - so why should they. Mia also needs to go on a diet - I did say she is big boned but the lovely vet was having none of it - so it's rations for Mia!
I had a few comments from people at the vets who were eager to see the kittens in the carrier, and the comment 'how many!!' was said several times. I was commended again for how healthy my kittens are and the adults too and they always say what excellent condition Kimba is in after a litter.

Appointments have been made and babies of Kimba and Nahla will be going to the vets tomorrow for their first health check and vaccination, also taking 6 adults for their boosters, it's very important to keep upto date with the boosters. Will post an update tomorrow.
Every evening the babies have free run of the lounge which is such fun, there have been no toilet accidents (none that I have found anyway) for about a week now so I am quite happy for them to be out the pens. They run around like nutters for a few hours, and then they either go back to the heated bed or pile up on my lap for sleeptime. They were all wormed a few days ago, not impressed with that at all, but the food treat after was much appreciated. I am happy to say that the babies reserved so far are all going to lovely people. Vaccinations begin this week, always a stressful time for me, you never know if a kitten will react to the vaccine in a bad way but thankfully this is rare. I have finally named with the help of my Daughter all of the kittens, some of them may change again if I'm not 100% happy with it, but most names fit them perfectly. Here's a video of poor Nahla escaping from the ever growing kitten pile trying to get some milk from her. One more cute video featuring Nargle & Filus Flitwick What a lovely day I had, the venue though was very small and there were not as many entrants as I thought there would be. The show was very friendly and I think most people left feeling happy. The judges were all friendly, I have had a super report from Anne Gregory on Luna Lovegood and on Helga Huflepuff whom Anne judged in a side class, so I was very pleased with what she said about Helga too. Check out the reports here.
I enjoyed chatting to everyone at the show and we had plenty of laughs too. My Son Alex looked after the babies at home so I didn't have to worry. My other Son Rob drove me to the show and collected me. Luna gained her first Imperial certificate, 4 more to go before she gains the title Imperial Grand Champion and she is only 20 months old. I came home with lots of rosettes and a very proud feeling. Watch the video, and then you'll see why I am worn out and have no time for house work - so when you visit please forgive the untidy house, as once I have cleaned the kittens pens I'm exhausted, and whilst I am uploading this video they are still going at it - crazy kittens Well I don't know where the time has gone, it's flown by. I have been enjoying kitten cuddles far too much and the house is neglected - who cares the babies are gorgeous. They are all doing so well, and are very playful now, whilst litter training continues they cannot have the run of the lounge yet but I have provided them with 2 pens joined together, we can just about see the tv. In this short clip not all the babies are featured as some were sleeping but I will upload more videos as I think this gives you a much better look at the babies and how they play. Enjoy............................ Weaning has been underway for a just under a week now, with me giving the babies a mix of ground Royal Canin babycat mixed with Cimicat baby milk, they all had their share from a syringe, no-one refuses to have some. So today I set up a small pen and put all babies in it, the clean up after was quite something!!!! This is the first time of having 3 litters together, I am thoroughly enjoying every moment. Their personalities are beginning to come through now so watch out for individual write ups for them all. I am happy to report that all babies are doing well, a little girl of Eeva's is lagging behind weight-wise, but more than makes up for it in cuteness. Kimba and Nahla's babies are all together and the 2 Mom's happily look after each others babies, Helga sneaks in for cuddles with her Mom Nahla and the babies love her too. With regular blanket and towel changes, my washing machine is always on, tray cleaning is also an everyday occurrence with every other day tray changes for everyone. I have introduced a low sided tray so when the babies are ready they can explore the tray. Soon be time for weaning, let the fun begin. I have updated the Newborn page with their weights and progress so far. All babies continue to thrive, some slower than others but all at this stage are well as are the Moms. My Son Robert and his mate Russ are very kindly building a house for Hekta, I am so pleased with the progress so far, Hekta is going to love it. It's been a few days since my last update, Kimba has officially moved in with Nahla, took her bed with her too, so Eeva gets Kimba's pen. Nahla's blue boy failed to put weight on for a few days, he didn't lose any either so I topped him and a few of the others up, all of the babies are doing very well, Moms are doing great too, I leave their pens open all day so they get to have a run round the house but mostly they stay with their babies. Kimba did a swap with one of Nahla's baby - her red boy for Nahla's red girl, think she was just testing me. The picture below left is what happens when you put a faux fur blanket on top of the pen and Helga Huflepuff is around!!!! The picture to the right is an amazing breakthrough for Eeva and Kimba, as they don't really get on, Kimba went for a visit and there was no hissing or growling at all, Eeva fluffed up her tail a bit as she was unsure of Kimba's intentions but she just wanted to check the babies.
With Kimba's gang taking more than half the moses basket and flopping all over Nahla, her gang is none too happy when it comes to feeding time. The video is a bit dark as I filmed it last night with my camera. |
